Brown to apologise to Fukuoka mayor and those who supported keeping the sister city's gift
Mayor Len Brown is to apologise to the Mayor of Fukuoka and the local Japanese community for the demolition of a Japanese garden at Auckland Zoo - a gift from sister city Fukuoka 25 years ago.
Mayor to apologise over zoo's Japanese garden Now the garden will be reinstated out of the zoo, but at Western Springs park, my favourite park. The plus side, it is free to enter Western Springs so more people will be able to enjoy it. The minus side, it was so controversy and a cost of $1million dollars.
In my book, Isabella used to visit the park because it was free and the scenery so peaceful.
